Continental drift

Orginal title: La dérive des continents (au sud) / Switzerland 2022 / Comedy / Drama / 84 minutes / Director: Lionel Baier / Suitable for 12 years and over

Between political intrigue and family discord - a powerful plea for European values.

Audience favorite Isabelle Carré ("À la Carte!", "Wine Tasting for Beginners") shines as a determined EU envoy who organizes a state visit to a Sicilian refugee camp. A challenging undertaking! Not least because her estranged son gets involved on the spot as an activist and criticizes her and her mission. With subtle irony, the satire "Nathalie - Overcoming Borders" shimmies along the contradictions of European politics and unmasks its double standards.

Nathalie Adler is under stress! She has to organize the state visit of Macron and Merkel to a refugee camp in Sicily - a PR event of immense symbolic power. But who still believes in the EU family in view of the countless crises? Certainly not Albert, Nathalie's long estranged son, who works as an activist for a nonprofit organization in the camp. Their unexpected reunion stirs up deeply buried feelings. For Albert, Nathalie represents a hypocritical politics that doesn't care about people's real problems. The reconciliation of the two turns out to be more complicated than the explosive diplomatic mission...
